The Social Neuroscience Lab at S4SN 2025 in Lisbon

The Social Neuroscience Lab was represented at the Society for Social Neuroscience (S4SN) annual meeting in Lisbon, Portugal (September 23–26, 2025). Esther Robins presented a poster on childhood adversity and intrinsic neural activity.

Her work used resting-state EEG to separate oscillatory and non-oscillatory components of neural activity, providing a clearer view of how early adversity relates to brain function. In a non-clinical sample of university students, adversity was linked to reduced theta and increased gamma power, highlighting the value of spectral parameterization for understanding how early experiences shape intrinsic neural activity.

Congratulations to Esther for an excellent presentation and for representing the lab in Lisbon!
